Namiki Emperor Rakucho & Cherry Blossom
Namiki Emperor Rakucho & Cherry Blossom
Pilot Namiki is pleased to share the latest edition of the Emperor Collection: The Rakucho Birds and Weeping Cherry Blossom! The Rakucho is a mythological bird that is said to fly around a celestial paradise and symbolises a quiet and peaceful environment. This unique pen design features two Rakucho birds that represent eternal love and happy marriage. The birds were created using the traditional Togidashi Taka Maki-e technique that adds both a distinctive texture and vibrant colour. Rakuchos are seen flying around beautiful weeping cherry branches. The background of the pen's body was made to resemble the distinctive charcoal hue and texture of cherry bark. The bark and branches were designed using the complex Oh-hi-nuri, a type of Kawari-nuri technique that has never been used before on Pilot's Namiki maki-e pens. Cherry petals are inlaid with mother-of-pearl and polished for a lustrous finish.
This extraordinary fountain pen with Emperor body symbolises love, serenity and tradition and is truly a work of art. Designed by renowned craftsman Mashiro Yamada, it has a No. 50 18-carat gold nib that features the customary illustration of Mount Fuji.
The large-capacity body fills with ink via dropper, and the pen is packaged in a sleek presentation box with a blue ink bottle and a signature tag. Each pen takes months to create. Since these pens are truly unique pieces of art, they are guaranteed for life by Namiki.
