About Us
Just over thirty years ago Tiziana Tamma decided to leave her clerical business to become an entrepreneur.
With her husband Antonio, then a representative, she had decided to take over a stationery shop. The couple had fallen in love with
a small stationery shop, located in Foro Bonaparte, right next to the ATM. The work to convince the two elderly owners,
Tired but not yet fully convinced of retiring, it was long and laborious. Tiziana and Antonio still remember with sympathy
when they showed up at the store with that flashy box of chocolates that won the hearts of the two old women.
The furnishings of the shop were early twentieth century, like the long aprons worn by the owners. Tiziana, then a neophyte in trade,
He supported these people for a time with humility and commitment to learn all the secrets of the trade. Tiziana was thus begun
to the product category, to the culture of customer service, to the practice of the price structure with rigid mark-up coefficients
studied by the two elderly stationers. When, after some time, the ladies decided that it was time to "stop" they left
to the Tamma spouses a last recommendation: "Guys, always take care of the Gift Pens. You will see, you will receive so much satisfaction!" And so it was!
For three long years – so it seemed to them – in his spare time Antonio was present in the stationery shop with energetic and concrete help.
It was 1981 when Tiziana became pregnant with her second child. This coincided with another important event at Tamma: Antonio had just decided to
take over the activity of a historic and dusty stamp factory located in Corso Buenos Aires. Just over 20 square meters. with a strange development of vertical exposure.
After doing an in-depth study of the local competition, Tamma understood that there were spaces to transform the activity from Stamp Specialist into Gift Pen Specialist.
And so he did!... The beginning was gradual (ed. to the point that in a corner of the current store it is still possible to find a suspended sample of customizable super luxury plates,
still on sale today on request!) But the determination really a lot.
For Tiziana, with two children, two shops and the loss of Antonio's help, now completely concentrated in the shop in Corso Buenos Aires, they were very hard times.
It resisted for three years then the family decided to sell the business of Foro Bonaparte and in 1984 the two spouses were reunited again in the former stamp factory of one of the directors
most important for shopping in Milan. From 1984 to 1995, for eleven years, the family engaged together in the development of the business. In the early years, given the high presence
of professional studios in the area, the shop even specialized in the sale of automatic mechanical pencils. In 1995 the shop adjacent to "La Stilografica" decided to
Lower the shutters. It was a great opportunity that allowed the Tamma family to almost triple the sales area, transforming the "beautiful shop" into a truly prestigious store.
Harmony and, above all, family harmony were also helpful in this phase. Tiziana and Antonio have studied and developed a unique furnishing system, both for the interior and for the
showcase. Most of the structures are mounted on wheels and allow a very fast change of the lay-out, giving the possibility to adapt the exhibition space to any type of need
Sale: preview of an important brand, pens clinic, etc.
All wall furniture, designed to contain pens (of course excluding showcases) are equipped with drawers with depth and height designed to optimize the containment of most
of the pen cases currently on the market. Also very interesting is the refill wardrobe with sliding container doors to allow a stowage of references on three overlapping levels.
There are also two sons: Ivan, who six years ago, after a few years of experience in large-scale distribution, decided to continue his parents' business in "La Stilografica" and Cristian who graduated in Communication Sciences you are gaining experience in the field of Public Relations also alongside the activity in the store. Thirty years of experience in specialization certainly helps. At "La Stilografica" they are convinced that they know what to buy, what to sell and how to do it. "We like to sell – says Tiziana – and we feel gratified by the satisfaction we know how to give to our customers who, They almost always come back to try the same shopping experience again. This happens regardless of the price."
The pedestrian traffic of Corso Buenos Aires somehow helps the activity that has the opportunity to enjoy an extremely wide catchment area. The percentage of passing customers and tourists is very high and the socio-economic composition of the clientele is extremely widespread.
Contrary to what you might think there is a certain return to the fountain pen as a gift theme for boys. Antonio Tamma is convinced that, even nowadays, if a young person begins to use a fountain pen then never abandons her. For this reason, when a customer requests a rollerball or ball for a gift from a student, they passionately argue about the importance and appeal of the stylus. One objection that often has to fight is the unjustified fear that the fountain pen will stain clothes. These are beliefs especially of the current sixty-year-olds who remember the pens they used in their youth and that sometimes they still had some problems of loss..

In recent times there has been more and more talk of the municipal project to make Corso Buenos Aires more enjoyable in terms of purchases. The idea is to widen the sidewalks, making
Easier the walk of the river of people that pours into it at topical moments (Saturday, Sunday, on the occasion of holidays and anniversaries). Although on the level of principle the Tamma spouses
They find the initiative commendable, but they feel the fear of a growth in chaos from car traffic: more sidewalks means less roadway and therefore more problems for parking and
for the passage of any emergency vehicles.
Thank goodness, thefts (or attempted thefts) in the store are infrequent but when they have been, they have been spectacular. As a rule They occur at times of heavy traffic in the store. Once two well-dressed and well-groomed young men managed to steal three valuable pens from a locked showcase. Another time a fake customer he made a pen disappear from a closed case while Tiziana turned her back to take another product from the shelf to present. On that occasion, however, the fraudster had the worst because the owner of "La Stilografica" felt the strange movement of insertion of something in the sleeve of the jacket by the customer. He checked the case and, finding it empty, forced the man to return the stolen goods.
Few visitors to fairs and fairs, Tamma do not disdain Paperworld in Frankfurt, mainly for the purchase of decorations for the card and gift box shop of which Tiziana is a great specialist. And this it is a bit the worry of Antonio and Ivan because the regular customers demand from them the same skill when Tiziana is absent. " We're not really up to it! – Antonio justifies himself – I try to limit Her purchases of material for the packaging of pens but for her it is a real frenzy!... In the end, it's still good, because this is also a positive feature of our offer."
The shop windows Instead, they are the common territory of the couple: they move, change, propose and re-propose. Two or three pen houses send them window dressers during the year to create small masterpieces of their own creative conception. They last a few days, then they return to put their hands on it with their warmth and their imagination.
In the point of sale is used little exhibition material of the Suppliers. The only exhibitors are counter for first-class products (up to 15 euros). The Tamma spouses, however, take pride in being a point of reference for their suppliers who often go to them for commercial checks on new products or market trends.
