Pelikan  M1000 Raden White Ray is made using the Raden technique, a sophisticated traditional Japanese decorative art. By working in thin strips the precious material obtained by pulverizing the shell of the shells, the artist creates a magnificent and incomparable work of art: each fountain pen in the Raden collection is a true inimitable masterpiece made by hand and this is one of the characteristics most appreciated by collectors.

Pelikan is proud to present this extraordinary new Limited Edition Raden that combines spectacular Japanese decorative art with the most prestigious fountain pen model of its famous Souveraen® series to create a fascinating cultural symbiosis.

The first step to create the Raden M1000 White Ray fountain pen is to give the surface of the barrel a deep black lacquer using the special Japanese Urushi technique. The traditional strips are then shaped by working the white mother-of-pearl particles, which are then fixed to the cap and to the barrel through the lacquering. Finally, the artist signs and numbers each fountain pen with the Maki-e technique.

The Pelikan M1000 Raden White Ray is enclosed in a traditional Japanese gift box made of Paulownia wood.
