Pelikan M805 Raden Royal Platinum
Pelikan M805 Raden Royal Platinum
Raden processing is a traditional Japanese decorative craft mainly used for lacquered articles and woodworking. Working with small strips of precious shell material, the Raden pen artist creates a beautiful, impressive and unique piece of art.
The first step in creating the Raden M805 Royal Platinum fountain pen is to give the surface a deep black impression using the special Japanese Urushi lacquer. The strips are then made with particles of precious white mother-of-pearl shell. A platinum foil is carefully fixed one by one on the back of the strips.
In the next step the strips are fixed to the hood and the barrel by a lacquer coating.
Finally, the artist individually identifies and numbers each pen with the Maki-e technique, which was reserved exclusively for Japanese Royals as an indication of their power.
The Raden M805 Royal Platinum pens are art pieces with 18-karat gold nib, finely chiselled and rhodium in size M.
Each fountain pen is enclosed in a traditional Japanese gift box made of Paulownia wood.
The Pelikan Raden M805 Royal Platinum will be available from September 2018 in a limited edition of 388 pieces worldwide.
