Pelikan Souveran M600 Art Collection Georg Tippel
In the wake of the success of previous editions, Pelikan presents the third chapter of the Pelikan Art Collection: the Souveran M600 Art Collection Georg Tippel. This special edition reinterprets a fundamental work of Pelikan's early visual heritage, transforming it into a contemporary writing instrument.
At the heart of this edition is Tippel's 1899 Grundfarben poster, created for Pelikan's first poster competition. This work exemplifies the powerful dialogue between artistic expression and brand communication at the dawn of modern advertising. Characterized by a clear visual language and a strong symbolic meaning, the poster conveys values that continue to shape Pelikan's identity today.
By transferring a historic work of advertising art to the barrel of the fountain pen, this edition continues Pelikan's tradition of transforming cultural heritage into art objects for writing – a masterpiece reimagined for the present.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the close link between art and commerce gave rise to a new artistic discipline: advertising art.
The works created for these competitions form the basis of today's Pelikan Art Collection. They reflect the richness of artistic movements and preserve a unique cultural heritage, reinterpreted in a modern way for a new generation of collectors and writers.
Tippel's work "Grundfarben" depicts the pelican as a caring parent who cares for their young – a symbol rooted in cultural tradition and always associated with dedication, responsibility and loyalty. For Pelikan, this image represents the expression of its core values: caring for customers, partners and future generations.
This edition features a subtle yet expressive detail from Tippel's original work. The clouds of the 1899 poster have been reinterpreted as an abstract , rhythmic motif decorating the barrel of the fountain pen.
The soft shapes catch the light, creating depth, movement and a delicate sparkle. The motif, framed by warm brown semi-transparent resin elements , harmoniously combines historic artwork with contemporary craftsmanship.
Made with the sophisticated Aurora process , the barrel features a finely engraved guilloché , covered with several layers of lacquer, creating a luminous surface that enhances the refined decoration.
With the Pelikan Art Collection Georg Tippel, a historical work of advertising art is transformed into a tangible object. What was once a manifesto now becomes a writing instrument that brings history, symbolism and craftsmanship into everyday life. A fascinating and timeless part of Pelikan's heritage, reinterpreted in the present through the art of writing.
The Souverän M600 combines Pelikan's renowned technical precision with refined aesthetics. This piston fountain pen is equipped with a two-tone 14-karat gold nib, ensuring a smooth writing experience, complemented by 24-carat gold-plated decorative elements and the iconic Pelikan clip. The edition is presented in a dedicated package, containing a miniature reproduction of the historic Tippel poster, merging art and writing instrument into a single experience.
