Pelikan M1000 Raden Black Infinity Fountain Pen

The limited edition M1000 Raden Black Infinity is an absolutely stunning masterpiece of Japanese art. The master created an exceptional work of art using the traditional Raden technique. For the M1000 Raden Black Infinity, selected sections of the colourful abalone green mother-of-pearl shell have been sanded and hand-cut into rectangular shapes. In the first step, the surface of the pen is painted black with urushi lacquer. In the next step, the strips are attached to the cap and barrel with a layer of lacquer. Several layers of lacquer are applied, each of which must dry and harden completely before applying the next layer. Between the finishing steps, the lacquered surface of the fountain pen is polished repeatedly. On the black urushi lacquer you can see a subtle silver sparkle. This effect is achieved by spraying 925 silver powder. Finally, each pen is individually signed and numbered by the master artist using the Maki-e technique. The pattern resembles a chessboard and has no beginning or end on the round body of the pen, hence the name Infinity.
