PARAFERNALIA REVOLUTION

Designed in 1978 by Sergio Carpani as a commemorative object of the construction of the Beaubourg in Paris, REVOLUTION continues to attract the attention of new generations of professionals and enthusiasts. With its 31 pieces entirely produced in Italy and completely assembled by hand, it is one of the symbols of "Made in Italy".

PARAFERNALIA REVOLUTION – 1971-1972
The story of REVOLUTION from the story of its designer, Sergio Carpani. After several years of internal struggles at PARAFERNALIA, we managed to direct PARAFERNALIA to focus on Design.
1971 Alchimia Studio – a studio of architects of those times, they asked us for a pen with an extreme design (HI-TECH). No one at PARAFERNALIA thinks it could be realized.
The philosophy behind Design is primarily the optimization, the essentiality, the aesthetics that inspires the design of an object.
PARAFERNALIA requires an unsellable pen, a corrogious image. I started working with what was HI-TECH at the time, that is to show the technical parts, the mechanism, the guts of the instrument (like Renzo Piano with the Pompidou – Beaubourg center of those years) and I drew the shape of the structure around (as Pininfarina drew the shape of a Ferrari around its powerful engines in order to draw the best performance efficiency). An innovative pen, entirely handmade with 31 tiny metal components and a push mechanism like the most complex racing cars.
The great innovative impact, the extreme design and its structure, distinguish her and those who belong to her.
For this reason, the pen was called REVOLUTION and to everyone's surprise, it turned out to be a great commercial success, which even today characterizes the PARAFERNALIAbrand.
Revolution is proposed today as a unique object and a contemporary writing instrument.
