Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1850, Robert Louis Stevenson longed for two things: the freedom and leisure of diving into another world. He wrote essays and travel stories, as well as his legendary adventure stories populated by extraordinary characters, whose names sent shivers down the spines of readers around the world: Long John Silver, Captain Flint, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson is dedicated to this extremely creative storyteller. Many decorative details of this edition are inspired by the novel "Treasure Island". The overall shape of the writing instrument, combined with the rings on the cone, recreates the effect of a historic extendable telescope. The body made of precious black resin is decorated with engraved crosses, including a larger "X" similar to the one used to mark the location of a treasure on a map. The hood of the Writers Edition is adorned with vertical lines that recall the boards of the schooner "Hispaniola" and a traditional chest. Behind the platinum-plated clip, the lines converge to create a wind rose, while the clip reproduces the shape of a galloccia, to which the ship's rigging is attached. The upper part of the cap is crowned by the Montblanc emblem, decorated with the pirate symbol - a skull with crossbones - raised in the center. The cap ring is adorned with the engraving of Stevenson's signature, and the date of publication of his first work, "The Pentland Rising", in 1886. The years of birth and death of Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) are engraved on the cap. In homage to Robert Louis Stevenson's passion for sailing and his choice to move to the South Seas, the handmade Au 750 rhodium-plated solid gold nib engraved with a delicate wave motif and the name that Samoans gave to the great writer and globetrotter: "Tusitala".
