Montblanc Muhammad Ali
Only a few athletes are celebrated and honoured like Muhammad Ali, three-time World Heavyweight Champion: his legendary exploits in the world of sports and civil rights activism have made him one of the most influential athletes and humanitarian workers of the twentieth century. As an athlete, Ali rocked the entire world with his strength, skills, and personality, becoming World Heavyweight Champion at the age of just 22. His greatest triumphs, however, were the result of his humanitarian efforts. Made of black precious resin, the hood mimics the shape of a punching bag, while the body design recreates the boxing bands worn by boxers to protect their hands. The hood features various decorative elements, including a famous exclamation of Ali, and a butterfly inspired by his typical fighting style: Twirl like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The pointed cone takes up the latter concept and is engraved with four lines representing the ropes of the ring. The inscriptions on the cone refer to Ali's victory at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, and the first heavyweight world championship, which he won in Miami in 1964. The cap ring features the details of his victory, i.e. the fact that he won in the seventh round by technical knockout. To celebrate its first title, the Montblanc emblem in white resin is adorned with the number 1. To emphasise his success, the clip reproduces the shape of a boxing champion's belt with his name on it.
