Montblanc Homage to The Great Gatsby Roller
Some novels make the history of literature and, at the same time, become the symbol of an entire era. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is a jewel of modern American literature. Published in 1925, the novel captures a fascinating snapshot of the jazz age and the roaring 1920s, a time of unprecedented opulence and self-indulgence. Bustling New York City, the opulent mansions of Long Island and the glitzy parties of high society are the backdrop for the story of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire, who will stop at nothing to win back the lost love of his youth, Daisy Buchanan. Dazzling Gatsby-era New York, whose gleaming Art Deco skyscrapers stand out against the blue evening sky, inspired the design of the Great Characters Homage to The Great Gatsby Special Edition. Created in homage to one of the first writing instruments of the Art Deco era, the surface of the body, made using a special technique, seems to reflect the tall facades of the city's booming skyscrapers, illuminated at night. No frills, but with a green light that shines like that of the pier of Daisy's house in The Great Gatsby, the Montblanc fluorescent emblem at the top of the hood captures and stores light during the day, and then glows in the dark. The apparent power of money is represented in this edition by a platinum-coated clip in the shape of a money clip. The rounded opening is decorated with Jay Gatsby's initials in a rhomboid monogram version with a gold finish in Art Deco style. The myth of the American dream and the elegant flask design of the Art Deco period are recalled by the cone that imitates the engraved cap of a flask and the refined rings that surround it, in the colours of the American flag.
